Mr. Ahmad Jawed is a well-known journalist, poet, columnist and author of many books based in New Delhi, India. His column FIKR-e-FARDA appears every Sunday since May 2006; up to June 2012 on editorial page of the Hindustan Express daily, New Delhi, after then the Azad Hind, Kolkata for year and the INUILAB (all 15 editions in north India). His excellence and contribution of more than 30 years in the field of Urdu/ Hindi journalism is substantial and significant.
Mr. Jawed worked for weekly NAI DUNIA (Urdu), NAI ZAMEEN (Hindi), Daily Aajka Akhbar (Hindi), Hindustan Express (Urdu) and the New Age Vision (News magazine) as Editor In-charge, Joint Editor, News Editor, Editor and Editorial Adviser; and gained extra-ordinary popularity as Editor of Hindustan Express, New Delhi. He joined the INQUILAB in April 2012 as a Resident Editor and worked for its Lucknow & five adjoining editions and he had been giving his services for its Patna and adjoining editions. His Sunday Column Firk-e-Farda (thinking into the future) for edit page of INQUILAB was a great attraction of its readership.
As an editor, he gained the success of giving Urdu journalism a new shape and dimension in Bihar. And the INQUILAB helped society and government to solve many issues and to force many boards/departments to work right with its impartial and investigative journalism. Its counterparts are also gained impacts by it. INQUILAB is the first Urdu daily which went to schools of city (Inquilab Aapke School/Madrase mein) under leadership of Mr. Jawed and reviewed here state of Urdu in education. Bazm-e-Inquilab’s activities infused a new enthusiasm in literary circles of the state and first of all in India a newspaper organized Orhani Club, a series of discussions on issues of Urdu spoken women by women.
Urdu Media Guild of India awarded him PRIDE OF JOURNALISTS on occasion of World Labor Day 2013 at IMA-Lucknow and presented him the award by Justice Pradeep Kapoor and Mr. Sayeed Naqvi, the Better World Mission presented him Aabru-e-Sahafat 2014 for his outstanding contribution in the field of creative journalism by Dr. Jagannath Mishra (Ex-CM) & Mr. Brishna Patel, Education Minister, Bihar. Bihar Urdu Academy (Govt. of Bihar) awarded him its National Ghulam Sarwar Award for Journalism (2014) for excellence in Urdu journalism and he is honored by West Bengal Urdu Academy’s ARM National Award for his excellent contributions in Urdu literature and Journalism.
Mr. Jawed born in a village of Madhubani district of Bihar started career in this field in 1982 as a special Correspondent for Sangam Daily under Editorship of Mr. Ghulam Sarwar, an outstanding journalist and stalwart Socialist leader. He Contributed the Qaumi Awaz (Patna) and Qaumi Tanzim, Patna for years as a special correspondent and Nai Zameen Hindi Weekly and Nai Dunya Urdu Weekly (1999-04) as an Editor (in-charge). He translated the UNESCO profile book the Sasia story by H E MADANJEET SINGH, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO in Hindi named SASHIA KI KAHANI and edited SAHRA BHI GULZAR LAGE a selection of poetry by SHABNAM KAMALI. He contributes NAI DUNYA Weekly as a sociopolitical analyst regularly since 1999 up to June 2013 and written several articles every week for this national Urdu weekly.
A group of youth Urdu journalists established the Hindustan Express daily in 2006 and he joined the group. This new generation newspaper created history in the world of investigative journalism and journalism of courage and fact finding in Urdu under editorship of Mr. Ahmad Jawed. Hindustan Express provided equal coverage to all sections of social and political philosophy and gives lead in making the mind of Urdu knowing minorities, especially the Muslims of north India. That is why Hindustan Express was the most quoted Urdu daily in India and abroad. It has the pride of being the first Urdu daily of North India on net with the URL www.hindustanexpress.com.
He contributed UNICEF as a Consultant Editor for years and translated UNICEF annual reports of 2011, 2012 and 2013 i.e. State of World’s Children in Urdu. In April 2012, he joined INQUILAB Urdu daily as Editor (in-charge) of all 5 editions published from Lucknow, Kanpur, Allahabad, Varanasi and Gorakhpur. Now, He is Resident Editor of INQUILAB, Patna, Muzaffarpur and Bhagalpur since the day one of publication i.e. 27 May 2013. Publication of INQUILAB in Bihar is a turning point of Urdu Journalism in the state and the region. And credit of to bring INQUILAB here with the effective manner goes to Mr. Ahmad Jawed with the publisher and staff members of the newspaper having a success history 75 years in Urdu journalism. Now, He is ready to begin a new journey with Urdu journalism.
